The EEC (Elementary Equity Committee) was created in 2004 as a subcommittee of the Harrison Parent Teacher Council (PT Council).  This committee consists of representatives from each of the four Harrison Elementary School PTAs and was commissioned to address the inequities that existed in the educational enrichment experience for elementary students across the district.

Over the past six years initiatives sponsored by the EEC have been a great success due to the overwhelming support of the community.  In 2007 the EEC was renamed the Elementary Enrichment Committee to better reflect the mission of the group.

Today each elementary student enjoys the benefits afforded by the diverse programming offered by the EEC.

The EEC is committed to ensuring that every child within our district is given the same opportunity to attain the same cultural and educational experiences offered by our constituency. We recognize that every child deserves excellence in education. We agree to work together to offer programs and activities across the district that serve to enhance the experiences for all our children.

As a committee that advocates for our children, the EEC commits to supporting the district’s goal to maintain consistency and offer a unified academic program within all of the elementary schools. The representatives of each school will work to foster cooperation amongst individual PTAs in the area of fundraising, programming and communication.

We agree to share plans for programs proposed by our constituencies to ensure fairness and make certain that said programs fall within the confines of our mission. We also recognize that it is our responsibility to bring back to our communities and the PT Council our recommendations and decisions to further promote programs for all children.

Finally, we are aware of the importance of maintaining each schools’ individuality and we strive to balance opportunities with the individual personality of our buildings.
